A Year’s Quest: November

November is about being considerate, thoughtful and polite. Being a buzzkill sucks out the positivity in a room. So instead of pointing out negative consequences, keep those to yourself. They contribute to a combative tone which is the opposite of what we are trying to achieve.

November: Keep a Contented Heart

Laugh Out Loud
Laughing is a source of social bonding. In addition, it can deflate an stressful situation not only externally, but also internally by lowering blood pressure and cortisol levels. Your goal is to find humor and encourage other’s attempts.

Use Good Maners
Make an effort to be more agreeable and show interest in others. This is usually easier to do if you are not hungry, thirsty, too cold or hot, or have to go to the bathroom.

Give Positive Reviews
Spin situations to the positive. This means keep critiquing to a minimum. If you do feel this need, de-personalize it and suggest a way to fix the problem.

Find an Area of Refuge
Is there a place where you can go that brings you peace? Perhaps a photo or quote can bring you to a place of quiet in your mind.
