Let me be your guide to happy endeavors

Hi, I’m Susan Scanlan. I’m trying to live a happy life. One that is full of joy, challenges and fulfillment. Learn what works for me and share what makes you happy!

My Story

I started reading “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin a few years ago, but never got past the second chapter. I re-discovered the book as I was collecting books to donate. I decided that I wanted to try to complete the exercises in the book, but needed some help from friends.

Four of my friends were willing. We decided to meet virtually on the first Friday of every month for a year. For each meeting we would read a chapter of the book and be prepared to discuss goals for the month. In addition, we would discuss how last month’s goals went. I was the recorder and researcher.

This website is the result of our happy endeavors and a guide for those who want to take on the challenge of becoming a happier person. If you like the site and need help getting a site of your own up, I can help. I have a website design business, Scannablesites.

Happiness Keys

Don't worry about what you can't control

You can’t control how other people act, only your reaction to them. When others drive you crazy, take a couple of deep breaths. Be flexible and accepting. Some people just don’t have much to offer or share.

Seek joy

What makes you smile? Take time to engage in those activities. It may not be a what, but a who. Be sure to keep these people close by maintaining contact and responding to their needs in a timely fashion.

Challenge yourself by setting goals

Many experts say the key to happiness is making progress toward goals. Achieving the goals is short-lived. It’s the journey that is fulfilling. Check out How to: Write Goals to make sure your goals get accomplished.
